Filmmaker James Gunn posted on his Twitter profile sharing information about the second part to ‘Suicide Squad’, which will feature actors Joaquin Cosio and Juan Diego Botto. It will also include John Cena, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis.
The second part of ‘Suicide Squad’ will be released in August 2021 under the direction of Gunn and will not be a continuation of the previous installment, but a new look at this world of antiheroes with a mostly new cast. For example, Will Smith will not be returning to the new film, unlike Robbie (Harley Quinn), Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Davis (Amanda Waller) and Courtney (Captain Boomerang) who will embody the same roles of the original film.
Among the new additions is the actor and professional wrestler John Cena along with Taika Waititi, Peter Capaldi, Idris Elba, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior. Alice Braga, Michael Rooker, Joaquin Cosío, Mayling Ng, Sean Gunn, Jennifer Holland, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Flula Borg, and Storm Reid close the long cast that will act on the film.
At the moment, Warner Bros studios, responsible for the DC comic franchise, has not revealed the role that each of the interpreters will portray.
On the other hand, the signing of Gunn as director for the sequel was exceedingly scrutinized by Hollywood since it took place shortly after he was fired from Disney as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after a series of controversial messages came to light from Twitter. However, Disney rectified in mid-March and recovered Gunn as director of the third part of “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
The original ‘Suicide Squad’ film raised $746 million but had a bad reception from critics and fans. The films of ‘Suicide Squad’ are part of the Warner Bros cinematic universe based on the stories from DC Comics.
