Very few series embody the spirit of the action packed 80s like “Knight Rider” (1982-1986), and the nostalgic can already celebrate, because the franchise will return in a film format, produced by James Wan (“The Conjuring”,” Aquaman “).

Originally starring David Hasselhoff, the production showed how Michael Knight fought crime with the help of KITT, a smart car full of gadgets and tricks.

According to Deadline, the new script is in the works with TJ Fixman (“Ratchet and Clank and Resistance: Fall of Man”), who intends to update the original “anti-authoritarian” tone to a contemporary context.

There is still no news on Hasselhoff’s possible involvement in the project, although the actor has advocated for a reboot or remake of “Knight Rider” several times over the years.

In addition to the original series, “Knight Rider” also yielded telefilms in 1991 (with Hasselhoff) and 1994, in addition to attempts at relaunching in 1997 (“Team Knight Rider”) and 2008 (“The New Knight Rider”).
