‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ arrives the middle of next year to close the dinosaur trilogy and bring the two franchises together once and for all. In addition to the regular characters from ‘Jurassic World’, the film will feature many beloved characters from ‘Jurassic Park’. Director Colín Trevarro already planned to use certain classic characters, but said he had waited for the right moment to smoothly transition their debut. Contributing to Colin’s speech, actor Sam Neill said that these characters will be seen throughout the film, not just special guest appearances. Here’s the latest characters that have been confirmed in the film so far!
Played by Sam Neil, Dr. Alan Grant, was the main protagonist of ‘Jurassic Park’ 1993) and ‘Jurassic Park’ III (2001). One of the greatest paleontologists in the world, Grant specialized in the study of velociraptors, having worked on theories of reproduction, socialization and vocalization of these animals.
Dr. Ellie Satler: Now an Oscar winner, Lauren Dern will return to the role of everyone’s favorite Paleobotanist. She played Dr. Sattler in Jurassic Park (1993) and Jurassic Park III (2001).
Dr. Ian Malcolm: The most annoying (and always right) character in the franchise had already appeared in a cameo in ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ (2018). In the film, his character gives a testimony in the Supreme Court proving to be contrary to the rescue of the dinosaurs and affirms that the world would now live a new era. Malcolm’s return ( Jeff Goldblum) should bring a lot of sarcasm and chaos theories.
Tim Murphy: Joe Mazzello was a child star of the 1990s, who accepted minor roles in recent years, and now has a chance to resume the spotlight with his return as young Tim Murphy, one of John Hammond’s grandchildren, who survived the ‘Jurassic Park’ incidents.
Dr. Henry Wu: Introduced as a secondary character in ‘Jurassic Park’, however we know the real importance of Wu from the books. With the new franchise, the character of BD Wong gained more relevance, becoming the great villain of the new franchise. This return could be his last appearance in the franchise, however he could go on living, and continue creating dinosaurs left and right.
Lewis Dodgson: Having a small part in the first film, Dodgson is the chief engineer of BioSyn , a rival company of InGen, which wanted to steal the embryos of ‘Jurassic Park’ so that his company could recreate dinosaurs as well. As animals are loose around the world, he, who will now be played by Campbell Scott, must play a key role in the plot.
Owen Grady: The velociraptor-trained scientist Chris Pratt is one of the big draws of the new franchise. His return was certain since the first film and he should now present himself with a more “paternal” role, given the events of ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’.
Claire Dearing: Bryce Dallas Howard went from being a ‘JurassicWorld’ scientist /manager and dinosaur rights activist in a movie. The character’s evolution is evident and we can expect it to grow even more for film three.
Maisie Lockwood: The events of ‘Jurassic World; Fallen Kingdom’ took little Maisie under Owen and Claire’s wings. She has the whole issue of cloning and genetic manipulation linked to her history and that can be an important point in the plot as well.
Barry Sembene: Played by the monstrous Omar Sy, Barry is one of those responsible for caring for Velociraptors in ‘Jurassic World.’ He has few scenes in the film, but his return indicates that the kidnappers will be an important part of the feature.
Lowery Cruthers: Jake Johnson played Lowery in the first ‘Jurassic World’; The character was the guy from TI, who served as comic relief. A fan of the original park, Lowery will return in a mysterious way. All that is known is that he survived the park’s incidents in 2015.
Franklin Webb: Another guy from TI used as a comic relief, Franklin (Justice Smith) went to Nublar Island as a member of Claire’s NGO for prehistoric life and ended up being more of a hindrance than helpful. Terrified and scared, but very good with computers.
Zia Rodriguez: Daniella Pineda’s paleo veterinary knowledge was instrumental in keeping Velociraptor Blue alive. His return may have to do with a new position, perhaps even something in the government.
Roberta: The T-Rex of ‘Jurassic Park’, which, according to Colin Trevorrow, is the same as that of Jurassic World is called Roberta. And her character is a definite in film three.
Still Unknown:
Actors Dichen Lachman, DeWanda Wise , Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze and John Flanagan were also confirmed in the film, but in roles not yet defined.
Jurassic World: Dominion opens on June 11, 2021
