According to Variety, Australian actress Markella Kavenagh has signed to join the Lord of the Rings team, becoming the first actress to join the cast of the Amazon series. The character Kavenagh will play is called Tyra, a name that has not been used in the works of JRR Tolkien so, either it is a name that will show up in future books, or it is a character created strictly for the Amazon series.
