Long before playing Billy in Stranger Things, Dacre Montgomery wore the boots from the Red Ranger in the Power Rangers 2017 version. It was directed by Dean Israelite with a cast that included Becky G, Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, and Naomi Scott; the movie did not reap the expected success. However, the toy company Hasbro seems determined to try again with a ‘reboot’ instead of a sequel. However, this next installment will not bring the previous cast from the 2017 version.

This is what Montgomery himself has said in the Reddit thread Ask Me Anything which was created to mark the premiere of the third season of Stranger Things on Netflix. When asked if there are plans for a Power Rangers movie, the actor answered the following:

” I think there is a movie in the works but it’s not with me and the cast. So yes but not with us.”

For now, Hasbro has not made any official announcement about the future of Power Rangers. Even though according to Montgomery it seems that there is a new project on the way, everything can change. The film from 2017 had a budget of 100 million dollars and only raised more than 142 million dollars worldwide
