Child’s Play has been dealing with great controversy in recent months, since it will soon be back in two completely different projects: a television series made by Universal who owns the rights to the sequels, the TV format will have the support from  Don Mancini; and a remake coming to the big screen from MGM, the company who has the rights to the original film.

The controversy increases with a fundamental change in the origins of the character and which is intended to generate a greater impact for new audiences. This time there will be no rituals, just a robotic doll that becomes evil after suffering a hack.

In the trailer, after a brief introduction from the new Chucky – now renamed Buddi, we finally have the first look at what we can anticipate for the new movie. Will it match the success of the original franchise?

The new version of Child’s Play is directed by Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) and starring Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman. It opens on June 21, 2019.
