It was during an early morning walk on Golden Mile Beach, in South Africa, that a woman discovered a giant squid, over 660 pounds and about 16 feet long.

A giant squid ran aground on the South African beach from Golden Mile to Britannia Bay. When this woman, who was walking there with her husband, saw the animal, her first thought was to help it back its natural environment.

Richard Davies, who decided to make a video of the giant mollusk, “It was still pumping out ink and I touched one of its tentacles which sucked onto my hand and I actually had to use some force to remove it,” Davies told News24. He solicited a man to position himself next to the squid to show the ratio of the creature. It truly is phenomenal.
