In 2018, during the post-credits scene of the Venom movie starring Tom Hardy, we saw the emergence of Cletus Kasady or Carnage, a sadistic, psychopathic serial killer who was supposed to be the antagonist in Eddie Brock’s second film.

Since then, fans of the symbiote have been looking forward to seeing Carnage’s insanity and psychopathy on the big screen, but the second part of Venom doesn’t seem to be anywhere close to being released anytime soon.

However, a new report from Geekosity seems to suggest that we will have a solo film starring Carnage, which will be the first Gore film in the Marvel Universe.

Gore cinema is a sub-genre within the genre of horror and exploitation cinema that focuses on the visceral and extreme graphic violence. This type of feature film tries to reflect the vulnerability, fragility, and weakness of the human body from the theatricalization of mutilations.

According to Geekosity, Sony Pictures is considering giving the Marvel Comics serial killer his own solo film, thanks to the box office success of R-rated superhero genre films such as Joker and the Venom movie itself.

The actor who gives life to Carnage, Woody Herrelson, is no stranger to these types of films and Carnage is known in Marvel comics for starring in the bloodiest panels in the history of graphic stories. Thus, the morbid, extreme violence, and mutilations are ascertained.

Sony Pictures will most likely want to continue expanding its own Arachnid Universe, which already includes the Morbius and Venom films, and a bevy of projects in development, such as Kraven, Black Cat, Jackpot, Silk and Nightwatch.

The only negative part of this whole aspect is that, we will never see Spider-Man interact with Carnage, because, while Sony Pictures shares the rights to the character with Marvel Studios, the latter will not allow its heroes to participate in a production only for adults, since Disney likes to keep it, as close to family-oriented as possible.

For now, we will have to wait until June 25, 2021 to see the sequel to Venom titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
