The film starring Jim Carrey introduced us to a live-action version of this unique green character and his unconditionally loving dog.

The film The Grinch, also known as How the Grinch Stole Christmas, celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2020, which is why fans have not hesitated to watch it again this year.

With the film on the Netflix streaming platform, the popularity of the movie starring Jim Carrey from 2000 has increased to the point that, on social networks, an interesting theory has emerged about Max, the dog that accompanies the grumpy character.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the Grinch lives on top of a hill in Who Village with his dog Max. Each year, their hatred for Christmas grows stronger as citizens dump their unwanted gifts into the town landfill, which leads directly to their home.

This part of the story is what fans are associating with Max’s origin. Since the Grinch is the creature that collects gifts discarded by the Who, the dog suffered the same fate and therefore, was a gift that no one wanted:

“That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? That’s what it’s ALWAYS been *about*! Gifts. Gifts… Gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts! You wanna know what happens to your gifts? They all come to me. In your garbage. You see what I’m saying? In your GARBAGE! I could hang myself with all the bad Christmas neckties I found at the dump! And the avarice never ends! ‘I want golf clubs. I want diamonds. I want a pony so I can ride it twice, get bored and sell it to make glue.'”
