Covid-19 has halted various projects this year that have attempted to resume production with safety measures in place. But an injury to the lead actor is a different level of crisis altogether, as has happened to Henry Cavill recently during the recordings of the second season of ‘The Witcher’.

The filming of the second season of ‘The Witcher’ has been quite challenging during the coronavirus pandemic; the season has already suffered two delays as a direct result, and production on the series just restarted last month.

The expectation for this next season is quite high as the first season of ‘The Witcher’ was a massive success for Netflix, and even sparked greater interest in the books and video games that inspired the series.

Reports of Henry Cavill’s injury on ‘The Witcher’ footage were confirmed by Deadline, but the good news is that it appears that the actor’s leg injury is minor, and filming for the season will continue.

Cavill will apparently be forced to take a short break from filming as a result, but other scenes will be shot without the actor while he recovers.

Production on the series is expected to halt soon for the holidays, therefore the actor should have some extra time to recover before returning to action as Geralt of Rivia.

During the pandemic, Henry Cavill spent quite a bit of time with some of his other hobbies, including painting Warhammer miniatures and building computers which he documented on a video that went viral.

At the moment, the premiere date of the second season of ‘The Witcher’ has not been announced, although Netflix previously stated that their plan is for the series to finish filming in February, hoping, to premiere the series in the summer of 2021.
