Although there are just a little over three years left for its release, “Aquaman 2” could have a production delay due to the activism from its protagonist, American actor Jason Momoa.
The Hawaiian has been protesting in defense of his homeland, specifically in Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in the state of Hawaii, an inactive volcano that is considered the holiest site for indigenous Hawaiians.
Mauna Kea is the proposed construction site for the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT), an extremely large facility that would make it the largest in the world.
Momoa uploaded a post to his Instagram account where we can see the construction of a telescope from the ’90s. “And TMT is 4x bigger. Sorry Warner Bros we can’t shoot Aquaman 2. Because Jason got run over by a bulldozer trying to stop the desecration of his native land THIS iS NOT HAPPENING. WE ARE NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS ANYMORE.” said the actor about filming “Aquaman 2”
“Enough is enough. Go somewhere else. Repost. This is what telescope construction looks like (Subaru Telescope, 1992). The TMT will be four times larger on unscathed land. We must protect our scared mountain from further desecration,” the actor continued.
