It seems that Netflix is very enthusiastic about the world of Eternia and everything related to The Masters of the Universe. The streaming platform is already the home of the She-Ra series and now they developing an animated He-Man series led by Kevin Smith, who is now working on another animated production focused on Prince Adam.

According to Deadline, Netflix and Mattel Television are producing a new series entitled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe that is wagering on digital animation. The objective is to “reimagine the classic characters in a way that appeals to kids and families today, while also resonating with the fans who grew up with them.”

This new series is a separate project from Masters Of The Universe: Revelation, the Kevin Smith series that had been announced before, and its announcement was ratified by Netflix through its social networks with a teaser poster starring the fearsome Skeletor.

As for the plot of this new series, the description offered by Mattel Television says:

“On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?”

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will be developed for television by Rob David ( Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ), who will also be a producer with Adam Bonnett ( Descendants ), Jeff Matsuda ( The Batman ) Susan Corbin ( Voltron ) and Christopher Keenan ( Batman Beyond ).

Ryan Q. Miller ( Arrow ) will be the editor of the series story, while House of Cool and CGCG ( Trollhunters ) will handle the animation.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe does not yet have a release date, but its announcement came accompanied by a poster that seems to have our beloved hero holding the Power Sword.
