Most of us know how big an average vegetable is, as the produce section from the supermarket seems to sell vegetables that come from the same farm.

Phillip Vowles knows the secret to organically growing giant vegetables that weigh over 94 pounds. The 67-year-old retired farmer from Llanharry, South Wales, England has learned a few tricks after growing vegetables for a quarter century.

In 1990, Phillip earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records for producing the largest cucumber, weighing in at approximately 19 pounds.

According to Phillip, who grew up in a large family with 13 children and has 16 grandchildren in total, he says that “great vegetables feed great families,” and that’s the reason why he does it.
