Joker is a character who currently has the heart of the audience, enjoys great popularity and his name is synonymous with success in the cinema. However, this was not always the case, 4 years ago, the character was brought to the big screen by the Oscar winner Jared Leto in Suicide Squad.
This gangsta version of Joker was not approved by the public and it was the actor who bore the criticismeven though, it was the scriptwriters idea to portray him in this manner. However, the damage to Leto’s career and image is now history and fans have endorsed Willem Dafoe as the new actor to play the DC Comics villain.
Through Twitter, fans highlighted that the chemistry between both actors on screen is unique, referring to “The Lighthouse” where both co-star in a drama. For many, it is not an interpretative duel but a complicity that few have been seen in the cinema.
It should be noted that although Joaquin Phoenix honored the legacy of the character with an Oscar winning performance for Best Actor, this version belongs to a line that is not related to the DC Extended Universe.
We are getting closer to the premiere of ‘ The Batman’, starring Robert Pattinson. The film will tell a new origin of the superhero and bring back an iconic villains like the Penguin (Colin Farrell). Therefore, there is still time for them to find a new face for the Joker and share a scene with the new Batman in the near future.
