Russian doctors had to extract a snake more than a meter long from the esophagus of a patient. The reptile had entered her mouth as she slept.

A snake over 3 feet long was pulled out from the throat of a woman in Russia. Apparently, the reptile had slipped in while she camped in her garden in Dagestan, a mountainous republic within the Russian Federation, reports the Piaty Kanal television channel.

Feeling ill, the young woman was rushed to the hospital where she was placed under general anesthesia.

Hospital Staff Terrified

Doctors removed the snake from her throat after inserting a tube. The reptile was placed in a bowl by a frightened nurse.

The video shot during the intervention does not suggest if the snake was still alive. The species to which the snake belongs has not been released.
