After director Fede Alvarez announced his departure from the sequel to the classic ‘Labyrinth’, the project was placed in very competent hands: Scott Derrickson.

According to Deadline, the filmmaker behind the hit ‘Doctor Strange’ agreed to be responsible for the continuation of the feature film.

Maggie Levin, screenwriter known for ‘Into the Dark’ and ‘My Valentine’, will be in charge of the new story.

The film production company TriStar Pictures will oversee the film, which has not disclosed many details about the movie – except for the fact that it will be a sequel to the work executed by Jim Henson launched in 1996.

The proposal still doesn’t have a definite release date.

It is worth mentioning that Derrickson will be an executive producer of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, sequel to the 2016 feature film. Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen will star in the production, which is being characterized as a horror film and is scheduled to hit the big screen, March 25, 2022.

Derrickson is also known for the script to ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose ‘ and directed the remake ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’, from 2008.

The Jim Henson Company, who was in charge of the original film, will produce the sequel.
