Due to the closure of several theaters because of the coronavirus outbreak, Columbia Pictures, the studio behind Bloodshot, decided to advance the launch of the digital sale and scheduled it for March 24.
This decision comes after several movies released shortly before Bloodshot suffered severely from acquiring low earnings caused by the pandemic. For this reason, the studio seeks to correct these losses by selling the digital version of the film for $19.99 on platforms such as iTunes, Amazon Prime and Google Play, among others.
“Sony Pictures [company that owns Columbia Pictures] is firmly committed to theatrical display,” said Sony Pictures President Tom Rothman. “These circumstances are rare and unique, where cinemas have been asked to close their facilities. But audiences will have a chance to get a copy of Bloodshot soon and see it in their homes, where we all should be, “he said.
Directed by Dave Wilson and written by Jeff Waldow, Bloodshot is based on the comics from Valiant publisher. The story follows Ray Garrison, played by Vin Diesel, who is a soldier that died in action and was brought back to life. Garrison is an unstoppable force that attains nanotechnology in his veins, which regenerate him against any damage, but the company that brought him back continuously revamp his mind and his memories.
