Joseph Kosinski, director of films like Oblivion and Tron: Legacy, in addition to the upcoming Top Gun sequel, is in talks with Universal Pictures to finalize a remake of Twister.
The original film, directed by Jan de Bont, was the second film that raised the most money worldwide in 1996, making it a well-known title, even more than 20 years after its release.
For now there are no more details for this project, beyond the fact that it will be a reboot according to Variety. However, we must keep in mind that the writer Michael Crichton was involved in the creation of the first film starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, which focused on various “storm chasers” teams trying to activate devices inside tornadoes to analyze them.
The remake is produced by Frank Marshall, husband of Kathleen Kennedy, who produced the original film working with Steven Spielberg for the Amblin production company.
