Disney and LucasFilm have huge Star Wars projects underway and one of them could bring Rey the character played by Daisy Ridley back.

Disney recently announced all the new projects from Marvel, LucasFilm, Pixar and the rest of their properties. But undoubtedly, the one that stood out the most, was the film scheduled to be released on the big screen in 2023 titled Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. For now, details about the plot have not been released, since they wanted to release the Wonder Woman 1984 movie to finalize the production, after that, they can begin to work on this new installment of Star Wars. But to fit Rey in, they would certainly have to make a new storyline for the character, or entirely declare that the sequels never happened, which would bring much joy to many fans.

In the Star Wars canon, Rogue Squadron is a band of rogue pilots created by Luke Skywalker who fought against the Empire. They were named after the brave pilots who gave their lives to obtain schematics for the Death Star. So if Daisy Ridley’s Rey really does return, that means she would continue Luke Skywalker’s legacy with those fighters, rather than create a new Jedi Order. Or maybe she accomplishes both at the same time.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron will hit theaters on December 25, 2023. Meanwhile, many television series from the saga will premiere on the Disney+ streaming platform.
