Every Friday the Star Wars spin-off series brings us new and incredible episodes, which are filled with Easter Eggs that excite fans. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead in each episode every Friday. This time it took it to the next level, fans are hyped up that ‘The Mandalorian’ has just introduced Boba Fett in the recent installment.
The fifth episode entitled “The Gunslinger” takes Mando and Baby Yoda to Tatooine after a space fight with a bounty hunter who also wanted the creature. With the ship damaged, the Mandalorian had to look for a job to be able to pay for repairs, which leads him to meet with Toro Calican (Jake Cannavale). He offers Mando a job, to work together to catch the famous assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), but in a turn of events ends up killed by Calican.
At the end of the episode a character approaches the seemingly dead body of Shand, some fans believe it may that it is Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) who has not yet appeared, but the sound we hear has something familiar that points to Boba Fett.
When the character approaches , some spurs are heard , which is a detail that has been worked on in its characterization since its premiere in 1980 for ‘The Empire Strikes Back’. The sound blew the imagination of fans who believe that ‘The Mandalorian’ has just reintroduced Boba Fett! But how is this possible? Isn’t he dead?
In speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Dave Filoni responded openly, indicating that it would be completely feasible to see the acclaimed character make an appearance in The Mandalorian:
“Interesting. I mean, there’s always possibilities, I don’t like to limit our storytelling in any way and, who knows? It would be really hypocritical for the guy who that helped bring Darth Maul back to life after he got cut in half, for me to say that somebody can’t survive a Sarlacc pit, but I don’t know. I mean, anything’s possible in Star Wars and I think, when fans love something, that’s what really fuels the possibility and the believability. So, who knows? But right now, we got Mando.”
Since his debut, Boba Fett captured the attention of fans, who saw his humiliating death when he fell in the Sarlacc pit in Tatooine. In the Star Wars universe he has been dead, but if he did manage to survive, what has Boba Fett been doing these past five years?
If it’s not Boba Fett, hopefully, it’s another great character that steals some of the attention from Mando just like Baby Yoda has done. Common sense points to it being Esposito’s character, and fans would love that idea as well. I guess we’ll find out next Friday.
