A locust plague in Argentina and Uruguay has gone viral after Internet users now see it as a sign of the end of the world.
A viral video was shared through social networks that has left thousands of Internet users terrified. It is about a plague of locusts that has covered much of the Argentine territory. Users have related it to the end of the world, mainly because of all the events that are unfolding this 2020.
The locust plague that afflicts the province of Corrientes, in the northeast of Argentina, reached South American territory on May 21, 2020 from Paraguay. Videos of thousands of these plantation-flying insects went viral on digital platforms.
The migration of the locust population, which covers about 6 miles, depends on weather conditions and wind direction. They travel between 60 and 90 miles per day and move depending on wind conditions and temperature.
The insects previously passed through the provinces of Santa Fe and Formosa where they destroyed crops of corn, cassava, sugar cane, wheat, and oats. There are still no figures on the real impact of the plague.
As expected the locust’s videos have gone viral.
