Although having achieved a worldwide collection of more than 270 million dollars from an initial budget of 94 million, seems to be a failure, in today’s Hollywood where a superhero movie exceeds one billion dollars. That’s why everything pointed to the fact that the film from Tomb Raider by Alicia Vikander was not going to have a continuity beyond the film which premiered in 2018.

So far, as stated by The Hollywood ReporterMGM has hired a new screenwriter to write a sequel to this reboot that was destined to become an action franchise. The chosen one has been Amy Jump, author of the films “Free Fire” and “High Rise.” At the moment there are no more details of who could be the director or the rest of the cast, but the scriptwriter will work with director Ben Wheatley and actor Armie Hammer, who will assist with the sequel.

The Tomb Raider released in 2018 starring Alicia Vikander, is the third time we see this superheroine video game on the big screen after Angelina Jolie gave life to the movies “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.” Although they did not manage to gain favor with the critics, the public seemed to enjoy them, more or less. The original Tomb Raider is a saga of video games with the same name that has been literally kicking guys hard since 1996 and whose latest installment, “Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” went on sale last year.
