For months now there has been talk about the possible participation of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man 3. Several reports have circulated since filming began, however, Tom Holland has stated and is blatantly refuting these stories and assured that he will be the only Peter Parker in the film.
The British actor is currently promoting Cherry, the Russo brothers’ film where he shares merits with Ciara Bravo. In an interview with Esquire, Tom Holland not only gave details about the film that is soon to be released, but also put an end to the speculation surrounding Spider-Man 3.
Contrary to what many fans believed, the 24-year-old actor assures that the third installment of the arachnid hero will not feature the unforgettable Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Holland is absolutely sure that they will not appear, because it would be extremely difficult for them to withhold this kind of information of that kind from him. And that is the only reason he could come up with for them not showing up. We’re sure no even he believes his own statement.
“No, no, they will not be appearing in this film,” he says. “Unless they [Marvel] have hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is too big of a secret for them to keep from me. But as of yet, no. It’ll be a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we’ve been making, ” he said lyingly.
Tom Holland had previously discussed his colleagues’ alleged cameos, and expressed that he was not certain, he would share credits with them. Despite these revelations, the protagonist of Spider-Man 3, presumably doesn’t actually have any idea of the movie’s plot, even though they already have eight weeks of filming.
In another recent interview, this time with the Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, Holland disclosed that Sony hasn’t said a single thing about the rumors.
“Beats me, I don’t know,” he mumbled. “If they are, they haven’t told me yet… That would be something that Marvel would do. I watch the film and be like, ‘So that’s who that tennis ball was!’”
Holland has established a “bad” reputation within the Marvel Universe for leaking spoilers from other movies. Weary of it, the producers have asked the British actor to try and not reveal details. Therefore, the Spider-Man actor cannot be trusted at this juncture into production, so we are almost completely certain we will see him with Maguire and Garfield, unleashing the multiverse.
