Spider-Man could return to the big screen a little earlier than expected but it does not look like it’s going to be in a new solo movie or a Marvel Studios production. According to new rumors from a couple of sources, the arachnid played by Tom Holland could be showing up in Venom 2.

The reports come from two references, the first is Daniel Ritchman who, according to Comicbook, disclosed this information through his Patreon.

The second source is the Geeks Worldwide portal, who in resemblance to the Ritchman publication launched an “exclusive” suggesting that Holland is in negotiations to appear in the sequel to Venom.

Neither report indicates that these negotiations are credible, and it should be noted that we might not see Holland fighting off Venom.

Keep in mind that if the actor eventually reaches an agreement and actually shows up in a scene, it might not show up in the final cut, taking into account what supposedly happened in the original Venom movie.

For now, let’s keep in mind that this is just an announcement to keep us hyped up while the new symbiote film continues its development under the direction of Andy Serkis which will focus on the conflict between Venom and Carnage.

Venom 2 does not yet have an official release date but is expected to hit theaters in 2020. Spider-Man will return to the big screen with a new solo film and within the MCU in 2021.
