Although it may be hard to believe for many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it wasn’t particularly easy to get that project off the ground, but that never stopped this studio from achieving its dream of creating the most successful cinematic universe this far. Now, a new report has ensured that Marvel wants the actor who was initially to star in ‘Iron Man’ in the 90s, Tom Cruise, to play Tony Stark.

Before Robert Downey Jr. took on the role of Tony Stark / Iron Man, many studios tried to make their own version of the famous superhero in the 1990s, but none of those projects went anywhere.

After all those failed attempts, the character returned to Marvel Studios, and Jon Favreau along with Robert Downey Jr. created the film that would give birth to the entire MCU, even though it was initially influenced by Sony’s Spider-Man Tobey Maguire.

Read a rumor that Doctor Strange 2 will have multiple alternate realities and @tomcruise was being looked at to play #TonyStark and be one of the alternate realities #Ironman in a cameo. Tho this rumor isn’t from a credible source ( wegitthiscovered ) I definitely wouldn’t mind this idea. Casting different actors as alternate versions of superheroes we already know seems like a very interesting idea. What do you think? #Tomcruise #Ironman

Many digital artists have now begun to portray the character as a ”what if” Tom Cruise did make an appearance. Also, using the Deepfake technique, it is possible to put Cruise’s face on Robert Downey Jr.’s body. This video allows us to see how the Mission: Impossible actor could have been in all the films, including Spider-Man: Homecoming and those of the Avengers.

Deepfake is an Artificial Intelligence technique that allows you to edit fake videos of people that appear to be real, for this, unsupervised learning algorithms, pre-existing videos or images are used.

Seeing Tom Cruise in the role would not be anything strange, since the actor was on the verge of giving life to Tony Stark in one of the canceled projects of the 90s. Of course, this is still a rumor and should be taken as such.
