Although the last episode of ‘Star Wars’, has managed to polarize critics and the audience, it has had some successes, and although it is not a bad movie, the truth is that it is far from being a worthy closure for one of the sagas more emblematic of cinematography, but it should be noted that ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ gave the final victory to the resistance, something that escaped the original trilogy.

Undoubtedly, no film from the prequels or the new trilogy could out perform the original films. The biggest mistake George Lucas made was in ‘Return of the Jedi’, the resistance celebrates their victory even though they really hadn’t won against the forces of the Empire.

And that is precisely what the new trilogy is based on since the empire was not completely defeated, it reestablished its troops and the First Order arose. In addition, it was able to restore its power to full potential which allowed history to repeat itself.

However, unlike ‘Return of the Jedi’, ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, does manage to close this section and give a real victory to the resistance. The film is credited for destroying the empire forever while ending the Sith once and for all. The resistance cleared the entire fleet of star destroyers, thus the First Order was extinguished forever.

Although, it seems that peace cannot prevail permanently, because if that were the case there would be no more stories to tell, rumors indicate that Disney is already preparing a new Rey movie. This time the Jedi will train a new generation of Padawans, however, some of these children will decide to join the dark side of the force, which will start a new battle between good and evil.

This is how The Rise of Skywalker‘ gave the final victory to the resistance, something that was not accomplished in the original George Lucas trilogy. In the long run this proved to be his worst mistake, since it was the rationale for the new trilogy, which he was not too happy about.
