Although ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ did not have the best reviews, Lucasfilm still has plans to extend the franchise and one of its goals is to give ‘Star Wars’ a new director, and it looks like they are favoring female talent.

Since last year it had been reported that Disney wanted to grow the galactic saga with stories no longer related to the Skywalkers, they were walking away to explore the deepest parts of the galaxy.

After this, the CEO was questioned again during the recent Bafta awards, what would be some of the changes that the production would have after the recent trilogy, she responded that the saga of ‘Star Wars’ will have a new director.

“Obviously, that’s what’s we’ve been spending so much time talking about, and it’s a really important transition for ‘Star Wars. What we’ve been focused on these last five or six years is finishing that family saga around the Skywalkers. Now is the time to start thinking about how to segue into something new and different, ” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, LA Times.

One of the candidates who could be sitting in the directors chair is Bryce Dallas Howard, who directed an episode from the series of ‘The Mandalorian’, in addition to having an entourage of directors in its grasp.

However, his career in this area is hardly new, he is the one who has more experience to take this project to the next level.

Although Kathleen Kennedy, mentioned at the previous Bafta awards that there will be a female director on a Star Wars movie, there are already a couple on “The Mandalorian.”

For now, we will have to wait and see who will be Force chosen for this important position on the council.
