Candyman’s back. This new revamp is produced by Jordan Peele, who is also one of the screenwriters, Nia DaCosta is in charge of directing this horror project that will restore the curse embodied by Tony Todd, the vengeful spirit that carries a hook and attacks with bees is back!
Operating as a “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 horror film, the story returns to the Chicago neighborhood where the legend began more than a century ago, of course the whole environment has now significantly changed.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Watchmen” & “Aquaman”), the first trailer implies that the story will revolve around an artist who becomes obsessed with the legend of Candyman, while a series of murders take place. And, of course, the warning is still: Don’t say his name five times in front of a mirror!
Universal Pictures has high expectations for this film. In fact, it will premiere during the summer when no other horror movies are usually released.
The film will also feature Teyonah Parris (“If Beale Street Could Talk” & “Chi-Raq”) and Colman Domingo (“Fear the Walking Dead” & “Euphoria”).
