Ever since DC premiered its extended universe in the cinema with Man of Steel, films of different nature have been added. Wonder Woman was acclaimed, Batman v Superman and The Suicide Squad got very bad reviews from the critics.

Now it’s Aquaman’s turn, the half-human, half-atlantean hero represented by Jason Momoa, known for his role in Game of Thrones. DC has published an extensive trailer of more than 5 minutes where he gives us several details about the film, which premieres on December 21st in cinemas.

In it we see the genesis of the character, the son of a lighthouse keeper Arthur Curry, a disbelieving man whos is the result of his father’s romance with the Queen of Atlantis. We see Momoa become a hero, and it seems clear that the film will have many action scenes, especially in the fratricidal fight against his marine brother, King Orm.

It seems that in this plot he will attempt to return greatness to the seas of Orm (at the expense of his life on the surface) and Aquaman’s perseverance to maintain a balance, all with environmental  graphics that does not look too badly. At the end of it, you can also see Aquaman with his classic suit, the same as in the comics.

In charge of the film is James Wan, a director known for horror films, but here he seems to get away from the dark tone of DC. It will be necessary to see if this strategy of releasing such a widespread trailer is successful. Of course, it’s been a long time since we knew so much about a superhero movie before its premiere.
