Among all the extraordinary aspects brought to us by The Mandalorian to add to the Star Wars canon, one of the most promising is, without a doubt, the precious Baby Yoda, which, as we discovered in the fifth episode of the second season, is called Grogu. And even with this revelation, many fans are still unable or blatantly refuse to call him by his “official” name. And now, the series creator has commented on the matter.

In an interview with Good Morning America, where he officially announced the series focused on Boba Fett, producer and screenwriter Jon Favreau commented on the debate about what the character should be called. For him, fans have full autonomy and authority to call him Baby Yoda, although the adorable little creature prefers to be called by his real name:

“I had written it in the script from very early on, and we finally revealed it in the show. But of course, everybody knows Grogu as ‘Baby Yoda.’ Which, by the way, is fine with all of us. We still call him Baby Yoda too, but he prefers to be called ‘Grogu,’ if you notice in the show. He perks up a lot when you say his name.”

Grogu‘s entire development is impressive and demonstrates how Disney got it right with the production of The Mandalorian. The character is really adorable, either for his extremely friendly and cute appearance or for his tragic and melancholy story. Hopefully, we’ll still see a lot more of the little Jedi in other Star Wars productions released on Disney+.

The first two seasons of The Mandalorian are available to watch on Disney+, and a third has already been confirmed and should be released next year. We still don’t know if the series will bring Grogu back, but we will definitely see the character in the Luke solo series. However, in one way or another, we will have more adventures and expeditions from the Mandalorian and his allies.
