After several months of waiting, The Mandalorian episode 1 of season 2 was finally released. The adventures of Din Djarin and Baby Yoda continue and for this new chapter, we were shown many references from the Star Wars saga. These are 16 little details that you might have missed, unless you’re an incredible die-hard fan and noticed all of them. The rest of this article will contain a lot of spoilers, if you haven’t seen the episode, go watch it.

As in the 1st season, this season 2 offers us a lot of fan service and very nice details from the Star Wars saga. Check them out!

TAGS WITH STORMTROOPERS

In the first few minutes of the episode, we can see graffiti against the Empire. Crossed out Stromtrooper tags, the fall of the Empire has already taken place, but its years of rule still seem to demoralize spirits.

GAMOREAN GUARDS

The big green pigs that guarded Jabba’s palace in Return of the Jedi are back in an arena fighting.

A TWI’LEK

A very well-known species from the Star Wars saga, we had already seen them in the 1st season of The Mandalorian. In this episode, there is one guarding the gate to the battle arena.

BACK TO TATOOÏNE

After having already visited it in Season 1, Din Djarin and Baby Yoda are back on Anakin Skywalker’s home planet.

A ZABRAK

One of the men who attacks Din Djarin in the combat arena is of the Zabrak race, the same race as Darth Maul.

PIT DROIDS

Pit Droids are the little maintenance droids that can be seen in The Phantom Menace during the Pod Race. They can be seen here at Peli Motto.

R5-D4

Also at Peli Motto, we can see R5-D4, this little droid is not unfamiliar since it is the first droid that the Jawas wanted to sell to Luke’s Uncle in A New Hope, before giving them R2-D2 because the first one was defective.

MOS ESLEY AND MOS ESPA

When Peli Motto shows Din Djarin the map of Tatooine, it conjures up Mos Esley and Mos Espa, two cities well known to Star Wars fans, since the first is where the Cantina is placed in a New Hope and the other, the city where Qui-Gon finds Anakin in The Phantom Menace.

MOS PELGO

Mos Pelgo is first mentioned in a live version of Star Wars, but this city already existed in the books of the Extended Universe.

COBB VANTH

Cobb Vanth can be seen for the first time in the flesh, the character already existed in the Star Wars universe. His story was told in the novel Star Wars: Aftermath.

BOBA FETT’S ARMOR

As told in Aftermath, Cobb Vanth collected Boba Fett’s armor by purchasing it from the Jawas. This is the first time that the armor has been seen since Return of the Jedi .

BANTHAS AND TUKSEN RAIDERS

The big mammoths of the Star Wars universe and the raiders of Tatooine are back in episode 1 of season 2.

ANAKIN’S Pod

The bike Cobb Vanth uses is made from pieces of podracers, the front of his bike clearly looks like Anakin’s mod from The Phantom Menace.

SARLACC CAVE

The big critter that eats Boba Fett in Return of the Jedi isn’t back, but we can see a well where this type of creature is hiding. Here the well is squatted by a krayt dragon.

JET PACK MALFUNCTION

When Din Djarin goes to tackle the krayt dragon on his own, he hits Cobb Vanth in the backpack the same way Han Solo did in Return of the Jedi

THE RETURN OF BOBA FETT

If you had any doubt, it is Boba Fett who appears in the last seconds of the episode. Actor Temuera Morrison is back to give life to the character, after playing Jango Fett and the Clones in the prequels.
