Every April, Bull Metropolis Burger and Brewery in North Carolina hosts “unique Meat Month,” celebrating unique meats eaten around the country and the realm.

This year, and for the last 3 years during “unique Meat Month” the restaurant will be serving up a “Tarantula Burger.” And no, just since it’s in citation marks doesn’t mean it’s figurative.

A hairy, char-grilled tarantula sits right on top of a juicy beef patty for your taste4 buds to munch on.

Throughout the month of April, adventurous purchasers can enter a raffle to consume the wonderful burger with a side of “soiled fries” for $30. When the winner is chosen, they have 48 hours to respond and set up an appointment to come in. Anyone who devours the entire meal; Tarantula burger: a pasture-raised North Carolina red meat burger, gruyere cheese, oven-roasted tarantula, and spicy chili sauce along with soiled fries, is given a free T-shirt with the restaurant’s logo on it and can delight in arachnid social media glory.

There isn’t an age restriction, and the tarantulas are “free-ranged” and certified fit for human consumption.

Some people have stated that the tarantula burger tastes like a crustacean, Cindrich. They say that it’s crablike — salty however bitter, though the chili sauce provides a little of heat to it.

The “Tarantula challenge” will proceed throughout the month of April.
