‘Aquaman’ has been a tremendous success at the box office and Warner is still working to bring more DC Comics characters to the big screen. The next one will be ‘Shazam’, which will have a much more fun and youthful tone. Although the villain from the film will be Dr. Thaddeus Sivana played by Mark Strong, Black Adam probably will not show up, however they have neither denied nor confirmed their existence in the DC Entertainment Universe.
It is normal for a character with so much potential to want to be used by the writers and directors from the DC Comics films. Do you think it’s a good idea to see the return of a Suicide Squad movie?
After 2008 Christopher Nolan blew our minds with the Joker which was portrayed by Heath Ledger, we saw the character resubmitted in the 2016 film Suicide Squad. The interpretation from Jared Leto did not quite convince and he will not repeat the role anymore. In 2019 we will meet a new Joker again at the cinema, more specifically in his own film directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix. It will be a totally different version that will have no connection with any other movie.
But the thing does not end here, since Matt Reeves has hinted that he will use a lot of villains in his films The Batman, which is scheduled to screen in the summer of 2021. But now it seems that there will be a new Joker in the James Gunn version of Suicide Squad. So in a short period of time we could get to see 4 actors portraying very different Jokers. Something difficult to digest, but if it looks good, it would be a real success for DC Comics movies.
