If this sounds too weird to be true, well it’s not. We would hope that George Lucas was simply trolling us, but that is not the case. Do not judge him for we must always remember the great foundation he set for Star Wars fans everywhere. His decision for his favorite character of the entire saga has been recorded in the scrolls of the web.
Lucas has confessed to Digital Spy, and has left many fans with their mouths open. Yes, the director’s choice is none other than the ineffable Jar Jar Binks. Probably, the most hated and reviled character in the history of the galactic saga by millions of fans.
The confession was made during the recent Star Wars Celebration held in Chicago. Lucas wanted to send a message to all attendees, where he made this amazing statement to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace :
“Thank you for coming to the Celebration,” Lucas said during the intro video, “[The Phantom Menace] is one of my favorite movies and of course Jar Jar is my favorite character. Ahmed [Best], you did a fantastic job. It was very, very hard.”
Ready, set, cue fan reaction!
