Star Wars is going through some bittersweet moments because, on the one hand, it is receiving exceptionally good reviews for the first season of ‘The Mandalorian’, which was broadcast on the Disney+ platform and on the other, a divided reception of ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Fans apparently did not receive this trilogy closure quite well. However, it seems that these two will merge in the not too distant future, because ‘The Mandalorian’ will explain Palpatine’s return.

One of the things that bothered fans the most is not knowing how Palpatine returned, after all, wasn’t he destroyed by Darth Vader in episode VI. In a recent interview with Maryann Brandon, editor of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, she replied that the public did not need to know how he survived:

“It was kind of a delicate balance and went back and forth a lot about how much we wanted to reveal. Some scenes changed quite a bit, the way that we wanted to present it to the audience. In the end, we ended up showing a lot less of it than we started with… There was so much information in the film and so many characters that we wanted to have an audience concentrate on. I think we felt we didn’t want to clutter the film up with things you didn’t need to know.”

Sources close to Disney have reported that the second season of ‘The Mandalorian’ will explain Palpatine’s return to this trilogy, which is very logical since it takes place subsequently close to the original saga and before the new trilogy.

According to this report, perhaps the one that has a lot to do with regard to Palpatines return of is the character of Moff Gideon played by Giancarlo Esposito:

“According to our intel, Gideon will soon come across Palpatine’s body somehow and conduct experiments on it concerning both the Force and cloning,” claims the We Got This Covered website.

As we know, the second season of ‘The Mandalorian’ is already confirmed, in fact, it was planned before the first series premiered and is expected to arrive in autumn 2020.
