“Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” was the last film in the franchise that hit theaters, but it will not be the last. Director JJ Abrams has been developing in absolute secrecy the last episode of the current trilogy, which will be released this year 2019.

According to the calendar initially published by Disney and LucasfilmEpisode IX will come this year as a continuation and outcome of the events that took place in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” (2015) and “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi ” However, the movie has still promoted itself, somehow by its absence in recent months, since no progress has been shared. We do not even know the official title of the movie.

At the end of 2017, Marvel Comics published “Star Wars: The Storms Of Crait,” a comic that tells the story of what happened after the episode 8 events. That is, the next movie would not be a direct and automatic sequel to “The Last Jedi“, it took place several months afterward.

While it is true that there is still some time for the production to reveal its official synopsis, Lucasfilm confirmed that it will be the last film about the Skywalker family and with that. This 9th film from “Star Wars” will put an end to the work from the past 40 years which was initiated by George Lucas.

Originally, Leia Orgrana was going to have a leading role in this last film, but unfortunately Carrie Fisher died during the first stages of pre production, so she practically had to start the film over again, acknowledged Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, in an interview with Digital Spy.

“We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII,” Abrams said in a statement.

Beyond this information, the same actors in the film have joked with their fans over the Internet about part of the story or even about some supposed end to the franchise. However, everything the actors have said is far from reality, because they themselves have clarified that they have only been playing.

On February 15, 2019, JJ Abrams announced the end of the movies film’s shooting with a photo of the protagonists.

They have confirmed the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Anthony Daniels as C-3P0 and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, as well as Domhall Gleeson in the role of General Hux and Kelly Marie Tran as Rose.

While at the beginning Mark Hamill kept the fans in suspense about whether or not he would participate in the new movie from the saga, the official casting announcement revealed that he was going to be part of the main characters.

However, this has not stopped Hamill from trolling his fans with fake information about the movie, from its title to the fate of Kylo and Rey .

The composer John Williams is also part of the team from “Star Wars“episode 9. He has been working on each of the films since the beginning of the franchise, “A New Hope” from 1977.

Originally, the production company had intended for the film’s release to be on May 24, 2019 in the United States. However, now it has been confirmed that “Star Wars: Episode IX” will be released on December 20, 2019 .

This new date gave director JJ Abrams more time to get the desired ending from the new trilogy. In England, the film is scheduling to be released on December 19, 2019, a day before its global release.

According to actor Oscar Isaac, the footage from this last film of the third trilogy from “Star Wars,” “The way they’ve been shooting it right now is looser than it’s been for the last two times.”  Speaking to IndieWire, he explained that it was “It does feel like a relief to get on set and feel like, ‘Oh, we can try things.’ It’s a testament to J.J. coming back and feeling confident. There’s less pressure for it to be right. We just want to make a good movie and have a really good time while doing it.”

“Often, you do feel like you’ve got to find your way to make something more alive, but this time, it’s been the opposite,” he said. “There’s no need to smuggle anything in there,” he concluded.
