Robert Rodiguez, who created hits like “Alita: Battle Angel” and directed episodes for “The Mandalorian”, will return to his roots directing and writing a reboot for “Spy Kids”.

Skydance Media obtained the rights to Spy Kids and will give rise to a reboot with original creator Robert Rodiguez, with the intention of relaunching this family franchise in movie form, founded on present time. This time, Rodiguez will direct and write the next film which will focus on a multicultural family.

This successful franchise has collected more than 550 million dollars worldwide in the three films released. Skydance hopes to attract the young public and the entire family back to live the adventure loved by many viewers.

Rodriguez is scheduled to direct the spin-off of The Mandalorian, “The Book of Boba Feet”, which will be released during Christmas, and it is presumed that after this, he begin working on the spy Kids production.
