Tom Holland’s next big-screen adventure as the popular Marvel superhero isn’t even close to commencing shooting since he’s been delayed along with the rest of the Marvel Studios Phase Four production. However, this does not stop reports of a possible replacement for Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man 3’.
The film could be the character’s last solo adventure, it all depends on the agendas and agreements that Sony and Marvel Studios prepare in the future.
With Kevin Feige confirming that Miles Morales exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been waiting for the beloved character to appear soon.
Holland himself has already admitted that he is completely in agreement with the idea, although we are not sure how he feels about the reports that Peter Parker will finally be annihilated and Miles will assume the mantle permanently.
While this is not expected to be the proposal for the long run, considering that Miles’ next appearance is in the ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ sequel, there is a possibility that Peter Parker’s replacement in ‘Spider-Man 3’ may be another character.
According to media websites, sources presumably close to Marvel, Ben Reilly is slated to appear in ‘Spider-Man 3’ as a student at Peter’s high school.
Of course, comic book fans, especially for those who dreaded the Been Reilly period, are aware that this would set up a huge transition of the origin of this character.
In the comics, Ben Reilly played a major role in the ‘Clone Saga’ as a genetic replica of Peter Parker who adopted the identity of Scarlet Spider.
However, Marvel has made many drastic changes with the comic stories in the past, and it looks like they will once again make it happen. It is still unclear what the studio has in store for Ben, but speculation points to him trying to steal Peter’s blood at some point and thus, obtaining his own Spider powers since he is obsessed with the hero and wants to be like him.
In any case, we know that Ben will not be a clone like in the comics, but he is on his way to the franchise and for now, the plan is to introduce him in ‘Spider-Man 3’.
