Earlier this year, DC fans received news that they definitely didn’t expect, with the confirmation of the release of ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League.’ But there are other projects in the horizon as well, and for this one Ray Porter supports Ava DuVernay decisions to cast the ‘New Gods.’

How the two stories are related is very obvious, the alternate version of the film is expected to canonize a multitude of previously unseen elements that Snyder had planned, including Ray Porter acting as Darkseid.

Although we’re still far from experiencing Porter’s version of the iconic DC villain, a growing fan campaign has begun asking for him to reprise his role in ‘New Gods,’ the independent version being worked on by Ava DuVernay, based on the main story of Darkseid.

Through his Twitter account, the actor stated that he would be fine if someone else played the character on the DuVernay movie.

In fact, the tweet is more the fact that Ray Porter supports Ava DuVernay for the cast of New Gods, since, while appreciating “a lot of what has been said,” he thinks DuVernay “is a brilliant filmmaker and should cast whoever she wants for her New Gods movie.”

DuVernay responded to Porter’s tweet soon after, thanking the actor and calling him “a gentleman and a true artist.”

Porter’s topic as the future of Darkseid has grown in recent months, even though DC fans have barely seen a fraction of his performance. As Porter has expressed in previous interviews, he would definitely settle for more than one shot at the iconic supervillain.

‘New Gods’ will tell the story of the inhabitants of New Genesis and Apokolips, twin planets who are involved in an epic cosmic war. DuVernay has been linked to a New Gods movie for almost two years, and is currently working on the script.
