The object swooshed across the sky and fell apart or vanished shortly thereafter. It did not cause any damage, but it did leave some spectacular footage.
The Texas sky was lit this month by an object that also produced a significant light show.
Now, one of the videos that have best captured the phenomenon has come to light. The event show off spectacular light with shades of bright yellow and gold flying across the sky for almost a minute around. Before the object fades away, in what looks like a spacecraft falling apart, Redit user CosmicWreckingBall was able to record the event and this is what he had to say about his experience:
“I observed firsthand what appeared to be a spacecraft’s debris re-entrance into the Earth’s atmosphere at about 2:02 AM CDT on 7/18/2020. XXXX was the first to see it and to call our attention to the spectacular spectacle.
The long trail of blazing colorful and variegated-sized fragments traveled slowly south to north from horizon to horizon at about 60 degrees above the eastern horizon. The beauty and brilliance of its glowing light was much more apparent in person–so much so, it illuminated parts of Marathon, TX and beyond.
You can hear each of our initial unedited reactions in real time as this spacecraft’s life cycle came to its breathtaking final journey as it streaked across the sky to the astonishment of us all.”
