After Chadwick Boseman’s tragic passing, fans are wondering who the new Black Panther could be, the answer might be his sister Shuri (Letitia Wright).

According to the latest reports, Marvel Studios and Disney are discussing the future of Black Panther. Since Chadwick Boseman’s passing from colon cancer has taken them by surprise, they have to come up with a plan about what to do with the character.

For now they have several options, such as choosing another actor to play King T’Challa of Wakanda. They are also contemplating that Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, the Avenger’s sister, as his replacement. Finally, the third option is to cancel the sequel and not use the African hero again for a while out of respect for the deceased actor.

On the other hand, the tragic news has made fans begin to debate the best way to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther 2, so now, there are campaigns pressuring to not choose another actor to replace him. Rather, fan’s advocated solution is to hand over T’Challa’s Black Panther cloak to Shuri (Letitia Wright).

In fact, a new petition launched on Change.org calls for this to happen, and says the following:

“Chadwick Boseman can never be replaced. He IS Black Panther. No actor should take on this role in the light of his devastating passing. Shuri should take up the mantle of Black Panther, as she has done in the comics. Please reimagine Black Panther II in this way as a tribute to this incredible man.”

She is a genius on par with the most intelligent characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Therefore, Shuri could fill two roles in a new Avengers team. First as the new Black Panther and second as the tech-oriented replacement for Tony Stark. Not to mention, Letitia Wright’s version of the character was hugely popular and there have long been rumors that Marvel Studios plans to feature her heavily in the future. If she were to take command in Black Panther 2, it would probably be the option that would leave most fans content. That’s why the film studio is seriously considering it.
