There was a time when the franchise was on Hollywood’s top list, amassing millions in revenue without a problem. Well, Paramount Pictures still wants to exploit the Transformers franchise with two new films.
Apparently, they will accomplish this by either retaining the Bayformers era or simply retreating from it completely. Fact is, the Space Bridge has opened two possible roads.
Variety reported that the franchise is developing two scripts. The only details that were addressed are that James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) is in charge of one and the other will be written by Joby Harold ( King Arthur).
It is also rumored that one of the scripts will be part of the universe that was created with the Michael Bay films, which was somehow someway reinvented with the Bumblebee-centered spin-off, while the other will be an entirely new version.
According to Deadline, the latter will comprise an adaptation of Beast Wars, the popular spin-off created as a series using digital animation during the 1990s. They also explain that this will be the project written by Vanderbilt.
For now, it is not clear if both scripts are competing to see which one will be released, or if the franchise plans to develop both. There are also no directors or cast members yet mentioned, but considering what the Transformers have been historically, the worst mistake of the franchise has always been to raise the human component excessively instead of focusing primarily on the Autobots or Decepticons.
For Beast Wars, we hope they follow the concept of this artist or at least similar.
