Now that Season 1 of The Mandalorian on Disney+ is over, Star Wars fans are looking forward to the next confirmed productions, including the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which will bring Ewan McGregor back as the Jedi Master during the time between Episodes III and IV. Given this, it was expected that we would see other familiar faces of the franchise, including Luke Skywalker, and finally it seems that his inclusion is confirmed.

As detailed exclusively by Fandom Wire, the new Star Wars spin-off is looking for a young actor to play Luke Skywalker during his childhood in Tatooine. And if the young Skywalker appears, it is reasonable to think that we will see other family members in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. At least, for now, we have verification of the return of Owen Lars, with Joel Edgerton taking up the role he played in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

As media has gathered, the new Star Wars series will explore the relationship between Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi where he will be supervising him from a distance. We have seen this happen before in the last canonical comics of the franchise, in a sequence of stories known as “Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Diaries”, where Obi-Wan Kenobi tries to go unnoticed in Tatooine as a solitary man, trying to make use of the Force as little as possible so as not to raise suspicions and alert frothe Empire.

If the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is as good as “The Mandalorian” we will be facing another great success from Disney+, and it seems that it will happen, since the showrunner in charge of carrying out the series is none other than Deborah Chow who was responsible for having directed some of the most iconic episodes of “The Mandalorian,” as well as several episodes of the Jessica Jones and Better Call Saul shows.

Even without an official title, the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series will land on Disney + sometime in 2021.
