Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the new Marvel series on Disney+ that has the simple task of surpassing WandaVision. The first episode was available since March 19 on the Mickey Mouse streaming service. A first episode which received a good reception, except for one point: the new face of Captain America.

Six months after 112-year-old Steve Rogers gave up his position as Captain America by handing his shield over to Falcon, Sam Wilson, who still does not feel ready to take on the role. Despite pressure from his companion James Rhodes, Falcon decides to return the shield to the government for display in one of the Smithsonian museums.

It is literally in the last scene of the first episode that we learn the US government has decided to give the star shield to a new individual, ignoring Sam Wilson. They then have the audacity of revealing a new character in a costume, very different from what actor Chris Evans wore. The new Captain, now played by Wyatt Russel, has a face much more square than its predecessor.

Marvel

This new design did not fail to instigate Internet users who have exhibited hate for this new choice of actor. For some, the square face Russell has reminds them of Karl, the man from the Pixar animated film Up!.

Obviously, he is not the real Captain America, but just another Super-Soldier, the US Agent. Many users have voiced their disdain for this new character, to the point of creating a #notmycap. However, the US Agent is a recurring character in the Marvel Universe. First created as Super-Patriot in 1986 in the Captain America comic book #323. He is redefined as US Agent, the new embodiment of Captain America.

Much like his counterpart, the US Agent has been subjected to treatment, with colossal strength, increased endurance, agility, and superhuman reflexes as his main qualities. He was trained to be the Captain’s understudy, copying his fighting style and shield handling. Obviously, all of this has yet to be revealed in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Can’t wait to see how this secondary character impacts the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
