Netflix released the first six episodes of the series restarted on July 1, 2020, and tips are flooding the website. Fans want to know how many of the original mysteries were solved with the help of viewers.

When Unsolved Mysteries premiered on Netflix, viewers were immediately taken down memory lane with the introductory music. However, the host, Robert Stack, was missing from the true crime documentary series. He died on May 14, 2003, and executive producer Terry Dunn Meurer felt that there was no one worthy enough to fill his shoes.

In addition to the lack of a host, fans also noted that there are almost no recreations. Although the scenes were often cheesy, fans miss seeing crimes reenacted by actors. In the new series, there are more news reports in place.

The Netflix reboot also only focuses on one mystery per episode instead of grouping four in a single installment. With this format, the show can focus more on each crime.

How many of the original crimes were solved with the help of the viewer?

Unsolved Mysteries ran for nine seasons on NBC, and featured 292 episodes in that ten-year span. With four cases per episode, the show unveiled more than 1,300 mysteries.

Half of the wanted fugitive cases were resolved with the help from the spectators. More than 100 families were reunited with loved ones lost due to the information phone line. Seven innocent people convicted of crimes were exonerated and released. The series helped find missing people, missing heirs, and resolve amnesia cases.

According to unsolved.com, the viewers’ advice helped solve more than 260 mystery cases. In one episode, over 1,000 spectator tips came for one particular case.

Will Netflix also help solve cases?

Within the first 24 hours of the release of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix, more than 20 credible tips came in on the first six cases. With social media constantly sharing posts about the incidents in the show, it’s not crazy to think that a high percentage of cases will be solved quicker than expected.
