A new mysterious monolith appeared Wednesday, December 2 at the top of a mountain in California, causing an influx of hikers, reports the Atascadero News.

The mysterious new obelisk discovered Wednesday morning December 2 atop Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California, reported a local newspaper, Atascadero News. Hikers flocked to take pictures.

The obelisk is triangular and appears to be made of stainless steel. It is almost 10 feet tall, 18 inches wide and weighs around 200 pounds. The structure is welded at each corner with rivets securing the side panels to a steel frame that might be inside. Its top shows no signs of welding, and it appears to be hollow at the top and perhaps at the bottom.

There is no evidence on how the object ended up on top of the mountain, however, a hiker who passes by there every day told the newspaper the object was not there on Tuesday.
