The film Masters of the Universe (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe) already has a filming start date. The movie has gone through many changes since Sony won the rights in 2009, but it seems that it will finally become a reality. Although the project has taken many turns, it has finally been confirmed through the official Twitter account from Production Weekly that the shooting of the reboot will start in July:

Masters of the Universe was brought to life as a Mattel toy line which was launched in 1982. That same year, DC Comics launched a series of comics about the Masters of the Universe. The success was so big that in 1983 the company made the animation series called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. This was the start of an impactful television series for the children of that time.
The Masters of the Universe story revolves around Prince Adam from Eternia. When Adam raises the Power Sword and invokes the name of Grayskull Castle he becomes He-Man, the most powerful warrior in the universe. He-Man defends Eternia from Skeletor, an evil sorcerer who wants the power of Grayskull to rule Eternia.
This is not the first Masters of the Universe movie. In 1987 there was an adaptation directed by Gary Goddard, it included the performances from Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella and Courteney Cox. Lundgren said in 2012 that he would like to have a cameo in this new version as King Randor, father of He-Man.
The film is still scheduled to premiere on December 18 this year, but will most likely be delayed. That date was announced on April 2017, it is very likely that it will end up being rescheduled, since its filming has not yet begun.
