A family was shocked to discover a kitten with two faces was birthed by their cat. But she ended up keeping it and pays extra particular attention to it.

An Oregon family was surprised when one of their kittens gave birth to a litter of six kittens, one of which had two faces.

The kitten born on May 20 has two snouts, four eyes and two small mouths. Her mom and five siblings are all in good health.

The owners were extremely shocked since it is not something that is common amongst cat owners.

Although the “Janus” kittens, known in reference due to the two-faced Roman god, usually do not survive long, a cat that also had two, named Frank and Louie, lived for 15 years and even appears in the 2006 Guinness Book of World Records.

To increase the chances of survival of the new kitten called Biscuits and Gravy, the family will have to assume a large part of its mother’s duties by carrying out regular feedings, every two hours, day and night, and keeping it warm.

Biscuits and Gravy has only one brainstem, but can eat, suck and meow using its two snouts. For now, the little one is doing well, according to the veterinarian.
