Through his Twitter account, Netflix published a brief interview with Joe Exotic, the outlandish criminal at the center of the documentary series Tiger King and who is in prison.

First, regarding the success of the series in its premiere, Exotic joked that: “It would be nice if I could see myself being so famous out there, but I’ve seen these same four walls for a year and a half.”

At the same time, and in a message to fans and owners of exotic animals, he also recommended that they spend a week locked up with their animals in a cage. “When I left the zoo and sent my chimpanzees to the sanctuary in Florida, and imagined what happened for 18 years, I am ashamed of myself,” he stressed online about the last words he said in the docuseries.

Joe Exotic is in isolation due to a preventive measure for the coronavirus. For now, it has not been confirmed if he has tested positive or if the isolation was only carried out because there were cases of COVID-19 in the prison he was in.
