We have seen that different manufacturers have had problems with the batteries of their mobile devices, some of them ending with very negative outcomes such as the Galaxy Note 7, probably the most talked about and Memed case of them all. Samsung was forced to remove their devices after reportings of various explosions.

Apple

Apple has not been exempt from such situations with isolated cases. Just in January of this year an incident was reported in Zurich, where the overheating of a battery in an iPhone 6 Plus led to the evacuation of an Apple Store. At that time, only one technical support member was reported with minor injuries on one of his hands.

The fact that it is a Cupertino product makes this a more drastic event, especially when it occurs within their official stores. As reported by the outlet medium AT5 , the battery of an iPad exploded inside an Apple Store in Amsterdam. The events took place on Sunday in Leidseplein.

The explosion caused some noxious gases to spread, which caused three employees to have difficulty breathing. Fortunately, they were helped by the medical units that arrived at the site in the company of firemen. The latter were responsible for depositing the device in a container with sand to remove it from the store. After the above, the normal activities from the Apple Store and the stores that were nearby continued.

At the moment there is no more information about the iPad that exploded, it is not known if it was a model on display or if it belonged to any of the customers that brought it to repair. Apple has already ruled out this fact, mentioning that it is conducting a full investigation of the incident and showing gratitude for the quick action of the staff at the Amsterdam Apple store.
